Story of the week: "A Big Mess"
  • Reading-read the decodables and initial the reading log daily. The blue soft reading book will come home on Thursday. Read "A Big Mess" and ask your child the questions about Realism/Fantasy on the white sheet and initial.
        Remember to continue reading the sight words and decodable words on the list inside the         homework folder.
  • Phonics- complete the phonics page front and back.
  • Math-complete math worksheets including the touch math worksheet.

Other Important Information:

Attention all Classroom Volunteers-Mrs. Murray, the office secretary will be offering a training of all of the workroom machines this Tuesday, Sept. 9th at 9:45 am.

Grandparent's Day is this Friday. There will be two sessions.

Picture Day is Sept. 17

No School Wed. Sept. 18  we  will be having goal setting conferences beginning Wed. Sept 18 to Friday Sept. 20.
Thursday/Friday will be minimum days-dismissal is at 12:35, please send a healthy snack with your child. I look forward to meeting with all of you.
 
Sorry! The pages for the reading homework are incorrect. On the yellow reading log it states to read "Where is Tip?" pgs. 56-57, it should be 56-67. Sorry for the confusion. If you have any concerns about homework, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!
 

Reading
  • Reading log-- please initial after reading the decodable books and reviewing the sight words.Turn in decodables on Friday with homework packet but SEND small blue book to  school when it comes home--we use it in class everyday.
  • White Sheet--On Thursday, ask your child the question listed (story structure) and initial.
         The rest on this form is to inform you of the vocabulary being used in class. Remember            this reading unit does not have spelling yet.                      
  • Family Times--daily ideas to enrich your child with extra homework ---this is optional only
  • Phonics page--complete and return on Friday
Math
Complete worksheets and return  them on Friday

Oral Report
The "Back to School" poem will be due this week, if your child is ready he/she can recite it on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Use props or hand gestures--tell your child to let me know he/she is ready or write me an email. Can't wait to hear them!

Emergency Kits
I need an emergency kit from every child in the class in case of an emergency.  Thanks to those few that have sent them in. Some of you have purchase them and PTA will deliver them to me soon.

Reflections Art Project

Thank you for sending in the signed permission slip. The theme is "Believe, Dream and Inspire". We will be illustrating a picture with this theme in mind.

PTA
Thank you to all of you that have joined the PTA. Room 4 would like to reach 100% participation. It is only $7, please join.

Grandparent's Day

Friday September 13 all grandparents are invited to a breakfast and a visit to the classroom. If a grandparent is not available to attend, please invite a VIP (aunt, uncle, special friend, etc). There will be two session for classroom visitations:
8:50 and 9:20 breakfast will be served at 7:45 am. Hope to see many grandparents in room 4!

Goal Setting Conferences on Sept. 18, 19, and 20 (No school on Wed. 19th)
I will be sending you an invitation this Wednesday. Please sign it and return on Thursday. I look forward to meeting with all of you.



 
     Homework assigned will be due on Friday, August 30th (except for oral report)
  • Reading- The small reader will be going home along with the homework folder.Follow the  daily reading assignments on the yellow reading log. Initial the log after                  listening  to your child read.
         RETURN  the book to class DAILY please. We use it in class.

         Initial the white sheet after asking your child  the question about "the setting" of a                      story. You can ask this question on Wednesday or Thursday when you read the story of          the week.
         Complete the phonics page.

  • Math- Complete the worksheets

  • Oral Report- Will be due in two weeks. I encourage you to add a prop to go with the oral report. Make a  poster or a drawing. Have your child practice holding the prop and saying the report  in front of a mirror.
  • Please sign the PTA reflection page if it is in your homework folder. We will be submitting a picture and if it is selected for future judging I need your permission. Only fill in the front of the page. Thanks!
